First Colony Aquatic & Rehabilitation Center wants to be your clinic of choice for your physical therapy needs. We provide land-based and aquatic therapy services.  Our staff of licensed Physical Therapists/Physical Therapy Assistants focuses on achieving the best results possible.  This is true for each and every patient that walks through our doors.
We are open Monday through Friday from 8am until 7pm.  This provides flexibility to schedule your rehabilitation around your busy life.

Land-based therapy and Aquatic therapy. Treatment consists of skilled manual therapy combined with therapeutic exercises that simulate daily movements to rehabilitate the body, restore maximal mobility and optimal mechanical motion.

Each Physical Therapist has their own philosophy and approach to patient care, which is influenced by their education, experience and clinical environment. You will get a sense of your therapist and their style of practice during your initial evaluation. You should feel comfortable at the clinic and confident that you will receive the best care.

Physical therapists perform a comprehensive analysis of movement, which includes identifying the joints involved, tissue limitations, muscular imbalances and structural pathologies. At First Colony Aquatic & Rehabilitation Center, our staff provides manual therapy, customized exercise programs, and biomechanically efficient patterns of movement to address limitations and return patients to activities important in their lives. Chiropractors vary in their approach to patient care. Some primarily treat the spine and others treat the involved joint in conjunction with the tissues. In addition, Chiropractors can order special tests such as X-rays, MRIs and blood tests. Both chiropractors and physical therapists are integral components of a patient’s medical team.

Our center provides an ideal environment for nourishing and healing your body, mind and soul. On your first visit the Physical Therapist will take a thorough history, conduct an evaluation of the entire body including posture & biomechanics, range of motion, joint mobility and tissue textures to find out the cause of pain or disability. A treatment plan toward recovery and health with short and long term goals will be discussed with each client and a customized treatment plan will be devised.

Yes. In order for you to receive physical therapy treatment, you need to obtain a prescription from your physician.

The frequency of your sessions depends on your situation and is determined after your initial evaluation with the physical therapist.

This will depend on the type of insurance you carry. We provide insurance preauthorization before your 1st appointment and advise you what your copay will be for each visit.

We accept most insurance including Medicare.

The first time you come to First Colony Aquatic & Rehabilitation Center for physical therapy, you will need to bring your insurance card, the prescription for treatment from your physician, and a co-pay, if necessary.

You should wear snug comfortable clothing that does not restrict movement.

Monday through Friday, 8 am – 7 pm.

Each physical therapy session lasts about one hour; however, the frequency of the appointments varies for each patient.

Physical Therapists are licensed health care professionals. Prior to practicing they must obtain a Master and/or Doctorate of Physical Therapy from an accredited education program and pass their state board exams to be licensed. They have extensive training in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, neurological sciences, disease and injury pathophysiology in addition to skilled therapeutic treatment application. In addition, physical therapists attend continuing education courses to stay abreast of the latest medical developments and treatment approaches.

At First Colony Aquatic & Rehabilitation Center, we help people change movement patterns to improve restricted daily habits of movement, gain strength and range of motion, while rehabilitating from injuries, orthopedic problems, or neurological conditions. We place a great emphasis on designing and teaching patients home exercise programs to develop muscular strength and coordination, improve joint function, and implement correct body mechanics.

Abilities and functions can be impaired due to various causes, which can significantly impact one’s quality of life. Several diagnoses that PT can help significantly include stroke, traumatic brain injuries, neurological diseases, arthritis, surgery or an injury, which can all limit one’s ability to generate optimal motion.
